Marion Alice Brown, 96, died at Stratford General Hospital on Sept. 6. Born in Muirkirk, Ont., she was a daughter of the late William Goodbrand and the former Winnifred Newman. She lived most of her life in Windsor. She was predeceased by her husband Edwin C. Brown. She is survived by her children Bart B. Brown (Lenore), Stratford, Shelley Moloy, Stratford, and Jane Doan (Phil) of Castor, Alta. A memorial service was held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home
Viola May Pflance, 99, of Stratford, died Tuesday. She was born in Stratford, the daughter of the late John and Louisa Pflance and was the wife of the late Lorne Davidson. Her passion was her family and nothing could brighten her day like a visit from her family and pictures of the children. She had a great sense of humour and was always quick with a comeback line that would leave everyone in stitches. She was also an avid sports fan. She is survived by her children Bruce Davidson, George Davidson (Jean), Jim Davidson (Pat) and Gloria Brodhagen (Clarence). Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son Jack and his wife Laverne. A funeral service was held at W.G. Young Funeral Home at 11 a.m. this morning. Interment in Avondale Cemetery.
Mary Margaret Helen Huras, 86, died at her residence in Kitchener on Sept. 7. She was born in Seaforth, a daughter of the late Edward and Margaret Chamberlain. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Stratford. In 1993 she was predeceased by her husband Ronald Huras. She is survived by her daughters Gloria Dunlap (Ian), Bright's Grove and Patricia Famme (Earl), Kitchener. Visitation was at the W.G. Young Funeral Home. A funeral service was held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Interment in Avondale Cemetery.
Jessica Marie Jocque, 20, of Shakespeare, died suddenly on Sept. 5 as a result of a car accident. She is survived by her son Nathan Sellars and his father Randy Sellars, by her parents Debbie (Jahans) and Brian Toner, and by her siblings Paulina and Sean. Visitation was at the W.G. Young Funeral Home. A funeral mass was celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. Interment in Avondale Cemetery.
Frederick C. Kipfer, age 82, of Stratford died Sept. 6 at Stratford General Hospital. He was born in Ellice Township, the son of the late Samuel J. Kipfer and the former Ida Satchell. He had been employed with the City of Stratford as a machine operator for over 30 years. He enjoyed nature and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Lois (Simpson) Kipfer, whom he married in 1957 in Blanshard Township, and by his children Ron Kipfer (Peggy) of Cambridge, Ray Kipfer and Ross Kipfer of Stratford, Beth Whitlock (Jeremy) of Deep River and Rick Kipfer of Kitchener. Visitation was at the Heinbuck Funeral Home. A funeral service was held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on Sunday. Burial in Avondale Cemetery.
James Herbert Peck, 80, died suddenly at his home in Carlingford on Saturday. He was born in Stratford, a son of the late Joseph and Bertha Peck. He had worked with Cooper Standard Automotive for 42 years until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Stratford Kings Hunt Club and was a charter member of the Fullarton Optimist Club. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean (Cook), and by his son Wayne Peck (Susan). A funeral service was held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home. Interment in Avondale Cemetery.
Harold Albert Reinhart, 93, a former resident of Stratford, died in Toronto on Saturday. Born in Stratford, he was a son of Christian and Matilda (Kramer) Reinhart. He attended Immaculate Conception School and Central Collegiate. He joined James Cowan Automotive Parts (later UAP) before serving overseas during the Second World War. After the war he returned to Cowan/UAP where he completed his career in 1979 as general manager of Toronto operations. He and his wife Cay came home to Stratford in 1979 and reconnected with many friends and family. He enjoyed golfing, curling and playing cribbage at the Legion. He supported the Knights of Columbus and was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. He was predeceased by his wife Cay (Pigeon) Reinhart in 2000. He is survived by his children Pat Sutton of London and Bill and Dick Reinhart of Toronto. Visitation was at the Heinbuck Funeral Home. A funeral Mass was held at St. Joseph's Church. Interment in Avondale Cemetery.
Marjorie Ellen Sloat, 85, died Saturday at her residence, Cedarcroft Place, Stratford. She was born in Stratford, a daughter of the late Clarence Finch and the former Ella Maude Kelly. She had worked at Kroehlers for many years until her retirement. She was predeceased in 2000 by her husband George (Geordie) Sloat. She is survived by her children Sharon Weitzel (Ken), Gerald Sloat (Darlene), and Robert Sloat (Michelle). Interment in Hampstead Cemetery. A service to celebrate her life will be held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home on Sunday.
