Famme bows out

Stratford Gazette

Coun. Howard Famme will not be seeking re-election in the November election.

In a letter provided to the media at Monday night's council meeting, the finance and labour relations chair announced he will not be seeking re-election due to personal reasons.

"I would like to thank the citizens of this great city for giving me the honour of serving them for the last three years," said Famme, in the letter. "It is truly a great experience and I would encourage any would-be politicians to run for council."

Famme also thanked fellow councillors and Mayor Dan Mathieson for their friendship and tolerance over the last term.

This was Famme's only term served on council, elected in 2003 with 6,109 votes, coming in second after Sam Dinicol.
