The former president of the Perth-Wellington Federal and Perth-Middlesex NDP Riding Association will be seeking the party's nomination for the upcoming federal election.
Donna Hansen, a long-time resident of Stratford and Perth County, is a self-professed "political junkie."
In a press release she said running for election has been something she's thought about doing for some time.
"The time is right for me at this stage in my life," said Hansen, in the press release. "I'm looking forward to a spirited nomination meeting and if I am chosen to be the candidate, I will give the campaign my very best effort."
Among Hansen's favoured initiatives is the NDP Better Balanced Budget, something the press release said saw $4.6 billion being invested in affordable housing, reducing tuition fees, the environment, foreign aid and protection of worker's wages in the event of a bankruptcy.
The time and location of the nomination is expected to be announced soon. The tentative date is Dec 1.
