Amanda Plummer, daughter of Stratford Festival alumni Christopher Plummer and Tammy Grimes, began preview performances of her first Festival production, The Lark, on July 31, at the Festival Theatre.
Plummer plays Joan of Arc in this play by Jean Anouilh, adapted by Lillian Hellman. Joan, on trial for her life, revisits the events that will lead her to be condemned as a heretic - and canonized as a saint.
Plummer is the winner of Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Emmy awards for her work on stage and in film and television.
The Stratford Festival production is directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg. The set designer is Eugene Lee, the costume designer is Dana Osborne, the lighting designer is Edward Pierce, the composer is Marc Desormeaux and the sound designer is Peter McBoyle. The fight director is John Stead.
The Lark officially opens Aug. 11 and plays in repertory until Oct. 29.
