Snowmobile bylaws opposed

St. Marys Journal Argus

Dear Editor:

I think the Town of St. Marys needs to be challenged for their snowmobile laws (“In-town snowmobile use,” Journal Argus Weekender, Feb. 5).

How pathetic is it that, just before we broke the world record for most snowmobiles in a parade, we make people comply with crazy, outrageous laws like that. St. Marys should encourage snowmobilers, not drive then away.

You can’t ride before 8 a.m. or after 10 p.m.? Half the people in St. Marys now “legally” will have to trailer their sleds to the trails when it’s a two-minute ride through town to the trails.

No longer can people enjoy riding their sleds to work because — oh! — you can’t ride before 8 a.m.

These laws are a load of crap! How many of those record breakers came and enjoyed what St. Marys has to offer, such as restaurants and small little shops? I bet with these new laws, half of them won’t come back. That’s pathetic, but I don’t blame them.

Smarten up, St. Marys. You’re better than that.
