Marie Blackwell

Marie Elizabeth Blackwell passed away peacefully at her residence, St. Charles Village, on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014 at the age of 97.

Beloved wife of the late Thomas Blackwell. Cherished mother of John Blackwell (Linda), Meryl White (Terry) and Joan Jenkins (George). Sadly missed by her six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Dear sister of Muriel Petrie, Earl Buchanan and sister-in-law of Min Buchanan.

Predeceased by her parents William and Alice Buchanan, brother Al Buchanan and sister Mary Park (Steve).

Marie was a long-time member of Central United Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #47 Welland.

Special thank you to the staff of St. Charles Village for their kindness and care of Marie.

Cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Marie’s life will be held at Central United Church, 12 Young Street, Welland on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 11 a.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Juvenile Diabetes or Central United Church would be appreciated by the family with cards available at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland, who are in care of the funeral arrangements.

Dr. Elizabeth Munn

Dr. Elizabeth Munn BSc. MSc. Ph.D. passed away at the age of 56 on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014 at Windsor Regional Hospital, following a stoic battle with cancer.

Much loved daughter of Dr. Donald Munn and Mrs. Joy Munn of Point Clark. Beloved sister of Andrew (Brenda), Chris (Helen), Valerie, Patti (Doug) and Catherine (John). Loved by nieces Natasha and Kiah Munn and Alexandra Weber, and by her nephews Justin (Lisa) and Mitchell Forman, Oliver and Sam Davey, and Max Weber. Very special aunt/foster parent to Metayha (Steve) Rudowicz and Kyin Munn. Great-aunt of Maya Rudowicz.

Elizabeth worked in research at the University of Western Ontario, Concordia University, Wayne State University and the University of Windsor. She was also a professor at the University of Windsor.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will take place at the Point Clark Community Center (344 Lake Range Rd, Point Clark, Ont.) on Friday, Dec. 5 beginning at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Wayne McConnell

Wayne McConnell passed away peacefully at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014 at the age of 60.

Loving father of Becky (Scott Banks) and Katie. Grandpa of Lily. Friend of Patty.

Wayne will be sadly missed by his brothers Bob (Marlene), Paul and John, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Mildred and Harvey and by his brother Brian.

Family and friends will be received at Robert Ruggle Funeral Home, 617 King St. N., Waterloo on Sunday, Dec. 7 for a memorial reception from 1-4 p.m. Cremation has taken place.

As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Grand River Regional Cancer Centre or Wellington Hospice would be appreciated by the family and may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at 519-888-7700.

Michael Purcell

Michael Donald Purcell of Listowel passed away quietly on Friday, Nov. 21, 2014.

Brother of Clayton Purcell, Sidney Purcell, Lynda and Ron Gorman, James and Cavell Purcell, Colleen Purcell and Barry Gosse, Donna and Randy Loveless, George Purcell, and Margaret Purcell. Donald was also loved and cared for by his family at Hamilton Place.

Friends were invited to a time of sharing at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Wednesday, Nov. 26. Interment of ashes will take place in Newfoundland.
