Kathleen (Kay) Wherry
Kathleen (Kay) Wherry passed away peacefully at Sunnyside Home on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014 at the age of 83 years.
Cherished daughter of the late Stanley and Laura Wherry. Much loved sister of Velma Clyne and her husband Johnny, and Glen and his wife Lorna. Loving aunt of Cheryl, Sharon, Yvonne, Kevin and Brent; great-aunt of Michael, Lindsay, Corey, Beth and Emily.
Kathleen’s greatest passions were painting, travelling and dancing. She was an employee of Mutual Life Insurance for 35 years.
Kathleen’s family received relatives and friends on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, Kitchener (519-749-8467) followed by a service in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Reception followed.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).

Mrs. Mary Ellen (Long) Johnston of Listowel passed away, surrounded by her family, at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014 at the age of 76.
Beloved wife of Bill Johnston. Special Mom of Mike and Sandy Johnston, Sue and Bob Scott, Doug Johnston, Sandra Schalk, and Jenn and Rod van Engen.
Grandma of Ryan and Nicole Johnston, Heather and Scott Dafoe, Bobbi-Sue Scott and her fiancé Brent Pierce, Bill Scott, Brandon Johnston, Tyler Johnston, Sierra Johnston, Paige Schalk, Olivia Schalk, Spencer van Engen, and Rachel van Engen. Great-grandma of Jazlin, Jayda and Max.
Sister of Bernice Noble, and Lorraine and Gerry Hartung, all of Palmerston, and sister-in-law of Jeanette Calder of Listowel.
Predeceased by her brothers Sonny and Donny Long.
Visitation was held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Sunday, Oct. 26 from 1-4 p.m. with a Legion Auxiliary memorial service at 4 p.m. The funeral service was held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Listowel on Monday, Oct. 27 at 11 a.m. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.
Memorial donations to the Listowel Hospital Foundation or Knox Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.

Shirley Verstoep passed away peacefully at Ritz Lutheran Villa on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014 at the age of 83.
Shirley was a devoted member of the Monkton United Church and a long time member of the Women’s Institute. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Beloved wife for 59 years of Adrian Verstoep. Loving mother of Marian Hutchinson, Hugh and Pearl Verstoep, Marjorie and David Lindsay, Linda and Ted Groenestege, Barbara Verstoep, Leo Verstoep, Leona and Jeff Donaldson. Missed by her 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law Doris Lamont and Jean Storey, five brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law in the Netherlands, and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents Hugh and Mary (Burgess) Lamont; her brothers Jim, Leonard and Graham; her sister Doreen and her husband George Seip and nephew Terrance Seip.
Relatives and friends were invited to share their memories on Sunday, Oct. 26 from 2-5 p.m. at the Brenneman Funeral Home, Atwood (519-356-2382) where the funeral service to celebrate Shirley’s life was held on Monday, Oct. 27 at 11 a.m. with Ruth Long officiating. Interment in Brussels Cemetery.

James (Jim) Cooper of RR 3 Brussels passed away peacefully at Seaforth Community Hospital on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014 at the age of 81.
Jim will be remembered by the community as a mentor and friend to many people, both young and old. At Christmas time, Jim enjoyed playing Santa Claus at many church and family functions.
Beloved husband of Anne (Hurst) Cooper, whom he married in 1969. Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews Margaret Anne and Barry Buchanan, Marilyn and Bob Mitchell, Jean Hurst and Robert and Bonnie Leslie; great-nieces and great-nephews Catherine Liden, Andrew Mitchell, Ryan Buchanan and Kara Hinder; and six great-great-nieces and nephew, and cousins.
Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Ida (Bremner) Cooper.
Relatives and friends were invited to share their memories at Brenneman Funeral Home, Atwood (519-356-2382) on Friday, Oct. 24 from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 1-1:45 p.m. followed by the funeral service to celebrate Jim’s life at 2 p.m. Rev. Allan Livingstone officiated. Interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood.

George Nelson Underwood of Wingham passed away at Wingham & District Hospital on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, age 84 years. Leader and innovator in Canada’s agricultural community.
Beloved husband of 60 years to the late Helen (Lear) Underwood, who predeceased him on March 31 of this year. Loving father of Susan Underwood and Ken Fowler of Stratford, Nelson Underwood, and John and Susan Underwood, all of Wingham, Kathy Underwood and Beth Anne Currie of Owen Sound, and Aileen (Ene) Underwood of Toronto. Dear grandfather of Kate, Maitland, Matthew, Ben and Alison Underwood, Andrea (AJ) and Victoria (Tori) Adams and Brandon (Zion) Alberga.
Brother of Jean MacDonald of Toronto. Uncle of Connie and Bruce Green of Toronto. Brother-in-law of June Crawford of Burlington and Harry and Gail Lear of Londesborough. Remembered by Garry Adams of Owen Sound.
Predeceased by his parents Nelson and Lillian (Moffatt) Underwood, his sister Aileen Lewis, his daughter-in-law Amber Underwood, and his beloved dog Joe. Cherished friend of Tim Willis and his many friends from the Old Cars Club, the Allis Chambers Club, the Blyth Threshermen’s Reunion, the Bluevale Men’s Card Club and the University of Guelph Class of ’49.
Visitation will be at McBurney Funeral Home Ltd., Wingham on Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Wingham United Church on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. Rev. Richard D. Hall officiating. Interment in Wingham Cemetery.
