Jill Lusted

Our beloved Donna Jill Lusted (nee Tucker) passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 in the presence of family and her closest friend, Jan Ross.

Devoted wife to Robert (Bob), cherished and loving mother to Cory and wife Angela and Jamie. Adoring Nana to Tristan, Ashton and Aubree.

Daughter of Margaret (Peggy) Tucker and the late William George Earl Tucker (2001). Caring sister to Jim and wife Meg and the late Steven (1976). Sister-in-law to Diane (Vince), Stephen and John (Sylvia). Dearest aunt to Chris, Jennifer, Julie, Jamie, Shad and Tasha.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life, to be held on Thursday, Oct. 9 between 2 and 6 p.m. at RedCrest Golf Course, 17700 Keele St., King, Ont.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Southlake Regional Health Centre (Hospice Palliative Care Teams for CLHIN) at or 905-836-7333.

Cecil Raszmann

Cecil Roy Raszmann (1932-2014) of Waterloo and formerly of RR 1 Monkton, died peacefully at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital after a brief illness on Monday, Sept. 22, 2014 at the age of 82.

Cecil is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Gloria (nee Ullner), daughter Annette Hall and husband Jim, son Greg, grandchildren Adam and Sarah Raszmann, sister Sharon Raszmann, brother Karl Raszmann and wife Mary, brother–in-law Al Ullner, nephews Kevin Raszmann (Jennifer Brown) and Brad Ullner, and niece Karla Raszmann.

He was predeceased by his parents Roy (1973) and Ethel (nee Osborn) Raszmann (1991), brother Bruce Raszmann (2011), and sister-in-law Beatrice (nee Schwartzentruber) Ullner (2009).

Cecil was born and raised on the family farm in Elma Township near Monkton and purchased the adjacent farm in 1962. He eventually formed a partnership in beef and dairy farming with his brother Karl. Cecil was interested in his community and enjoyed serving on the Mitchell Co-operative board and on Elma township council. He was a member of the former Monkton United Church and served as a steward and elder. Cecil and Gloria moved to Waterloo in 1991.

The Raszmann family received friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, Waterloo on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 9:30-10:45 a.m., followed by the funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Illman officiating. A reception immediately followed in the funeral home’s Fireside Reception Room.  Interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood was held after the reception.

Jim Snider

Mr. Jim Snider of RR 1 Listowel passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 at the age of 81, never alone and surrounded by his loving family.

He will be lovingly missed with everlasting memories by his wife Donna, his daughter Kelli and husband Christopher DiCarlo, and his sons Jason and wife Allyssa, Jamie and wife Bettina, Brandon Snider and Caroline Robic and Mike Snider. Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Marius DiCarlo, Ashlynn and Ayla Snider, Sam Snider, Innez and friend Justin Gautreau, Miranda and friend Justin Nelson and Alicia Snider; and great-grandchild Braxton Nelson.

Also deeply missed by his sister Shirley and husband Ed Woroch, and brother-in-law Mark and wife Janice Matheson. He will be missed and loved always by nieces Lisa and husband Joe Neves and son Kaden Neves, and Laura and friend Alex Scott; and nephew Jon and Cheryl Matheson.

Predeceased by grandson Mitchell Snider, parents Roy and Irene Snider, brother Wayne Snider and in-laws David and Muriel Matheson.

Visitation was held at the Listowel Community Family Funeral Home in Listowel on Monday, Sept . 29. A memorial service was held at the family residence 86645 Maple Keys Line, RR 1 Listowel on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. officiated by Rev. Ralph Dwarika. Interment in Molesworth Cemetery.

Alfreda Hallahan

Alfreda Rose Hallahan, formerly of Walkerton, passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014 at the age of 65. Born in Clinton, Ontario on Feb. 18, 1949 to the late Alfred and Olive (Healy) Goldsworthy.

Loving mother of Dwight Hallahan and his wife Janice of Belgrave and Healy Balzer and her husband Jason of Listowel. Cherished grandmother of Dawson Hallahan, Camden Balzer and Hudson Balzer.

Alfreda will be missed by her many siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and members of the Hallahan family.

Predeceased by her grandson “Saint” Logan Hallahan (2010).

Private family arrangements were entrusted to the Tiffin Funeral Home, Teeswater. Inurnment in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Edward Johnston

November 16, 1935

– August 24, 2014

Edward James Johnston, of Pasadena, California, passed away August 24. Born in Grey Township, Ontario, and moved to California in 1957.

Beloved husband of Carole, best father to Mark and Brian, father-in-law to Dorothy and loving Papa to granddaughters Megan and Andrea. He was the son of the late Margaret Crowe (Grimmer) of Listowel and nephew to Harold Grimmer.

Memorial service will be held in Cambridge next summer.

Beatrice Gilkinson

Beatrice Gilkinson of Listowel passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Wednesday September 24, 2014 at the age of 75.

Beloved wife of Stewart Gilkinson, whom she married in 1958. Loving mother of Allen Gilkinson, and Margaret and Dave Quinlan. Special Nan of Erin and Jason Cressman and daughter Kelsey, Lacey Ruppel and friend Chad; Jenna Ruppel and Jamie Scott; Mike and Rebekah Quinlan and children Esther Grace, Caden and Asher; Robyn and Chris Raben and children Tyler, Wyatt and Briar; David Quinlan Jr.; and Danielle Quinlan.

Dear sister of Wilma and Bill Cherrey, Tex and Rosemary Donohue, Pat Donohue, Dianne Mitchell and sister-in-law of Nora Donohue. Fondly remembered by Joe Ruppel, many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Barney and Eva (Thompson) Donohue, son Steven, sister Elva and brothers John and Carmen.

Visitation was held at the Brenneman Funeral Home, Atwood on Friday, Sept. 26 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service was held at the Listowel Salvation Army on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.

Florence Ivel

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Florence Ivel at Palmerston & District Hospital on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014 at the age of 95.

Florence Marie (Greer) Ivel was the wife of the late Alex Ivel. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her children Leora Knapp of Listowel, Linda Wilkinson and her friend Harvey Miller of Alma, Meg Young and her husband Randy, Robert Ivel and his wife Joan, and Allan Ivel and his wife Kim, all of Harriston.

Friends called at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Monday, Sept. 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service was held at Knox-Calvin Presbyterian Church, Harriston on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Kathy Morden officiating. Interment in Harriston Cemetery.

Ken Wenzel

Mr. Kenneth Orman Wenzel of Palmerston, and formerly of Moorefield, passed away at Royal Terrace, Palmerston on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 at the age of 91.

Beloved husband of the late Norma (Telfer) Wenzel. Father of Calvin and Karen Wenzel of Palmerston, and Carol and Raymond Durrant of Guelph. Grandfather of Calen and Karley Wenzel, and Josephine and Alexander Durrant.

Brother of Mervyn and Fran Wenzel of Palmerston, Marguerite Hartung of Wallaceville, Mildred and Bill Rivers of Ingersoll, and Bernice Askett of Listowel; and brother-in-law of Bruce Telfer of Kitchener, Marie and Norman Bell of Milverton, and Sydney Lane.

Predeceased by his grandson Joseph Durrant in infancy, sister Gladys (Percy) Gedcke, brothers Orville Wenzel and Earl Wenzel, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Roy Hartung, Elwin Askett, Raymond (Shirley) Telfer, Shirley (Earl) Johnson, Jean and Alex Arnold, Ken (Joyce) Telfer, Glen Telfer, Inez Telfer, and Joyce (Cor) Schalk.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Sept. 28 from 1-4 p.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel where the funeral service will be held on Monday, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Steven Cox officiating. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.

Kevin Keffer

Mr. Kevin Frederick Keffer of Drew, and formerly of Ethel, passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at the age of 49.

Son of Audrey Keffer and the late Fred Keffer. Brother of Randy Keffer of Mount Forest, Fay and Ty Cross of Listowel, Phyllis Keffer and Paula Keffer, both of Fordwich, and Chris and Debbie Keffer of Harriston; and uncle of Sarah, Allison and Jason.
