The highways and streets of Perth County were filled with the sound of roaring motorcycles over the weekend.
The sixth annual Perth County Forbidden Ride took 330 participants all over the countryside, stopping in at least five different communities to collect stamps on the roads less traveled.
The ride kicked off Friday with a motorcycle caravan from Stratford to Mitchell, ending with a show 'n' shine and some local food. After a day on the road, riders ended Saturday with a full-course barbecue supper, live entertainment, and thousands of dollars worth of prizes at the Milverton Agri Centre.
"The comment (from participants) I heard the most was how extremely friendly everyone was," Perth County Visitors Association general manager Cathy Bieman said Monday. "So hats off to Perth County for being the best ambassadors!"
A portion of the event's proceeds support the Monkton Lions Club Fishing and Outdoors Camp for Kids
The annual Forbidden Ride also promotes the Ride Perth Motorcycle Map that guides motorcyclists to motorcycle-friendly roads, restaurants and accommodations in the county. This year's map includes two themed tours that you can take along the way.
