A pilot project of United Way Perth-Huron United Way of Perth Huron is calling for volunteers to assist with the Multicultural Association of Perth-Huron.
A core group has been established, and the new association is looking to expand its volunteer roster.
The association was formally established in November, 2013 to facilitate the full participation of all Perth-Huron residents in the life of their communities and to foster the cultural diversity.
The association seeks to accomplish this by promoting the attraction and retention of newcomers in the community and local workforce; acting as a “referral hub” for newcomers; complementing and enhancing the newcomer services currently provided by other community organizations; and promoting, advancing, preserving and developing inherited culture and arts.
The association is seeking two volunteer members for its steering committee to assist in developing, approving, and monitoring work plans and budgets, commission and evaluate research and reports, assist in fundraising efforts and writing grant applications, and discuss issues and promote the association within their communities.??Organizational and planning skills, ability to work cooperatively, a commitment to the principles of multiculturalism and inclusiveness, experience in fundraising/grant applications, and personal experience as a newcomer to Canada are all seen as assets for candidates.
Interested persons should submit their resume and request the volunteer application form from Jessica Morrow at 519-271-7730 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
