Betty Manning

Mrs. Betty Marie (Lucas) Manning of Listowel passed away after a short battle with cancer on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013 at the age of 78.

Betty was a devoted wife to the late Jack Manning, who passed away on May 6, 2013. Caring mother of Tom Manning, and Connie and Joe Bahadoor, all of Listowel. Grandmother of Melissa and Adam Crawford, Joseph Bahadoor, Brittany Bahadoor and Alex Wreford, Leanne Manning, and Jeff, David, Felicia, and Lynne.  Great-grandmother of 10.

Loved by her sister Reta and Lorne Mann of Gorrie and their family.

Predeceased by her son Donald Manning.

Visitation was held on Friday, Dec. 13 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel where the funeral service wase held on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 11 a.m. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.

Memorial donations to Knox Presbyterian Church or Listowel Memorial Hospital would be appreciated.

Bob McNichol

Mr. Robert Clarence McNichol of Listowel passed away at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 at the age of 71.

Much loved partner of Debbie Powell of Listowel. Father of David and Pam McNichol of Round Lake, and Donald and Cathy McNichol of Emsdale. Grandfather of Vince, Kathryn, Riley, Ayla, Hayden and Elliot.

Brother of Helen and Don Valin of Kitchener, and Sharon Noble and Bob Cullen of Gowanstown. Bob was loved and will be remembered by Debbie’s mother Theresa Cassel, and by Debbie’s children, grandchildren, brothers and sister.

Predeceased by his son Dennis McNichol and by his parents Cecil and Blanche (Elliott) McNichol.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 19 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel where the funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. Spring interment in Donegal Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Salvation Army would be appreciated.

John Drost

John Drost of Listowel passed away at Caressant Care on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at the age of 76.

Husband of Sharon Drost. Father of Larry Drost of Listowel, and Carol and Mike Bordman of Kincardine. Grandfather of Jamie and Erin Bordman, Adam and Holly Bordman, Rebecca and Corey Bauer, and Ken Mann, and great-grandfather of Rowan, Shyla, Paisley, and Leela.

Brother of Diny and Hilbert Rumph of Drayton, Grace and Bert Geerlinks of Drayton, Ann and Albert Rumph of Collingwood, Linda and Jake Marissen of Rockwood, Helen and Jerry McClement of Carlow, Jenny and Sid Sigtema of Clifford, and Alice and Fred Kuper of Rothsay, and brother-in-law of Jane Drost of Vancouver.

Predeceased by his brother Luke.

Visitation was held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Monday, Dec. 16 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service was held at Listowel Pentecostal Church on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 11 a.m.  Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.

Memorial donations to Listowel Memorial Hospital or the Mexican Mission at Listowel Community Church would be appreciated.

Ted Hiemstra

Mr. Ted Hiemstra of Listowel passed away at Caressant Care, Listowel, on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013 at the age of 85.

Beloved husband of Gay (DeBoer) Hiemstra. Father of Sid Hiemstra and Mary Ann Zomer of Listowel, Andy and Margaret Hiemstra of Port Perry, Arlene and Thom McElhanney of Whitby, Diane and Bill Vyn of London, Peter and Kelly Hiemstra of Kitchener, Steve and Sandy Hiemstra of Mitchell, and Rob Hiemstra and Natasha VanAnkum of Kitchener.

Ted will be remembered by 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and by his family in Holland.

Predeceased by two brothers.

Ted had a strong faith and deep love for the Lord. He served in many different capacities within the church. He wanted to share his faith with his family and those around him. It gives us great comfort to know he is at peace and now lives with his Heavenly Father.

In 1954, Ted and Gay were married in Holland and then immigrated to Whitby. He was a hard-working man and would often go to a second job after farming to support his family. For 18 years, Ted worked for General Motors. He farmed in Lindsay from 1966 until purchasing a farm in Listowel in 1974.

In 1991, Ted retired from both Campbell Soups and the farm. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling, and kept his strong work ethic as he tended his large garden.

Visitation was held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Sunday, Dec. 15 from 2-4 pm. The funeral service was held at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Listowel on Monday, Dec. 16 at 11 a.m. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.

Memorial donations to Canadian Diabetes Association or Parkinson Foundation would be appreciated.
