Students enjoyed St. Marys Museum programming

St. Marys Journal Argus

Dear Reader:

For the past month the Grade 3 students from Little Falls Public School have been partnered up with the St. Marys Museum as part of the Grade 3 Social Studies program on early settlers (pioneers).

Going to the museum on a weekly basis has been a valuable opportunity to learn about how and why people came to settle in St. Marys. Not only did the students acquire interesting facts about life in St. Marys 150 years ago, but the program had a hands-on component that the children all enjoyed.

Students were able to play with pioneer toys, pretend they were students in a one-room schoolhouse, make a surveyor’s chain, and make a festive stamp. Not only did Amy, Trisha, and Bethany have a wealth of knowledge to offer the children, but they also were always welcoming and willing to answer any questions that the children of 2013 had about life 150 years ago.

We want to thank the museum for this fantastic opportunity. We have been very lucky to be part of this.

Thank you.
