Terry Fox Run raises over $12,000

Stratford Gazette

A little over 200 Stratford and area residents participated in the local Terry Fox Run Sunday morning, raising an estimated $12,261 in donations and t-shirt sales.

Among those getting a head start early in the event was Hannah Lacroix, 11, who pinned to her shirt the names of several friends who are currently battling cancer.

She collected $265 in pledges - part of the millions of dollars that will be raised in communities across Canada this year for the Terry Fox Foundation in support of cancer research.

According to run organizers, online donations were up significantly this year, with over $7,000 – close to last year's total raised – committed even before Sunday, and more last-minute contributions through the Terry Fox website are expected to lift the local fundraising total even higher.
