Annual Sydney Evans Memorial Run Aug. 14

Stratford Gazette

The Heart and Stroke Foundation is holding the third annual Sydney Evans Memorial Run and Walk on the evening on Wednesday, August 14.

This is a 3.5 or 8 kilometre run or walk held in memory of Sydney Evans of Stratford, who died suddenly at age two from a heart defect called cardiomyopathy.  Her parents, Michelle and Dwayne, as well as big brother Eric and baby sister Aubrey, are thrilled to have the event held in her memory.

The fun run will be held on Dunn Road, from Packham Avenue to Line 29. Participants are asked to register online at www.fitforheart.ca. Event day registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the run/walk start time at 6:30 p.m. Participants and their families are encouraged to gather after the run for food, fun and refreshments. There will be music, a silent auction, face painting and entertainment for the kids.

All funds raised by participants will be donated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in memory of Sydney Evans. The goal for this event is to raise $18,000 for life-saving heart disease and stroke research. Participants are urged to collect donations online at www.fitforheat.ca or by picking up a pledge form at Vancea Financial (Huron St.), Avon School, Runner’s Wall (Wellington St.), the Stratford mall’s guest services booth and the Heart and Stroke Foundation office located at 556 Huron St.
