Vera Nelson

Vera Kathleen Nelson (nee Nuhn), loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Saturday, July 27, 2013 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. Vera was 81.

Beloved wife and partner of Don for 58 years. Cherished mother of Bob (Kerry), Joan Goodman (Jim) and Leanne Lewis (Steve). Will be sadly missed by grandchildren Scott, Emma, Allyson, Natalie and Adam.

Survived by sister Marjorie (Doug). Predeceased by brothers Lloyd (surviving spouse Ruth) and Ross (surviving spouse Doreen).

The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Sunrise of Oakville and Oakville Trafalgar Hospital, 4 East for their outstanding care and compassion.

A service celebrating Vera’s life will be held at St. Stephen’s on the Hill United Church, 998 Indian Road, Mississauga on Friday, Aug. 2 at 11 a.m. Rev. Dale Skinner to officiate. Reception to follow at the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Society of Canada or a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Ward Funeral Home, Oakville.

 

Lloyd Doner

Lloyd Melville Doner of Stouffville and formerly of Gowanstown and Gormley, passed away at Markham Stouffville-Hospital on July 23, 2013 at the age of 92.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Dorothy (Timbers) and by his children, John and June Doner of Gormley, Marilyn and Ron Stutzman of Arkport, New York and Kathy and Willis Wideman of Kurtzville.

Also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren Mark and Maria Doner (Cole, Julia), Lori and Dave Jones (Kendall, Peyton), Paul and Rebecca Doner (Lilyann, Elizabeth, John, Charlotte), Glenn and Dawn Doner (Riley, Olivia), Brad and Rubyan Stutzman (Isabela, Kailah), Jeff Stutzman, Amy and Jason Hill, Dwayne Wideman and Daniel Wideman.

Lloyd is survived by his brothers Harold and Don, sister Helen and her husband Walt Dyck, brother-in-law Harrison Schlichter, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Clarence Doner and Margaret (Baker) and by his sister Gladys Schlichter, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Jean Doner, Marian Doner, Fred Wilson and Elwood McCague.

Lloyd is also remembered by Dorothy’s family – Irene Timbers, Bob Timbers (Leatrice deceased), (Bruce and Joyce Timbers deceased).

Lloyd was born June 21, 1921. Following their marriage on June 21, 1944, Lloyd and Dorothy took up dairy farming on the home farm at Lot 35, Concession 3, Markham Township. Lloyd took great pride in being the sixth generation of Doners to farm this land.

They were founding members of the Unionville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and served this congregation in many different capacities. Lloyd loved music and sang in a number of male quartets over the years.

In 1982 they retired to a smaller farm by Gowanstown and enjoyed a new community of friends. For the next 22 years, Lloyd continued to downsize from Percherons, to Haflingers and finally to miniature horses.

In 2004, Lloyd and Dorothy moved to Parkview Village where they renewed old acquaintances and once again made many new friends. Lloyd has now moved to his eternal home and is being welcomed by his Saviour – “Well done, good and faithful servant…Enter into the joy of your Lord.”

Visitation was held on Friday, July 26 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Marshall Funeral Home, Richmond Hill. The fFuneral service was held at Heise Hill Brethren in Christ Church on Saturday, July 27 at 1:30 p.m. with interment at Heise Hill Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Lloyd may be made to Parkview Home, 123 Weldon Rd. Stouffville ON L4A 0G8, or the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) 50 Kent Ave, Kitchner ON N2G 3R1.

Debbie Gorman

Deborah Ann Gorman of Listowel passed away after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the age of 57.

She was predeceased by the love of her life, Donald “Jake” Bartman, and will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her special friends Tim and Ann Bingham and the Gang.

A graveside funeral service will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Listowel, on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 11 a.m.

A great big thank you to Dr. Warren, the nurses on the second floor at Listowel Memorial Hospital, the physiotherapists, ambulance attendants, C.C.A.C., and Care Partners for their wonderful care and compassion.

To honour the great love that Debbie had for cats, memorial donations to Pet Angels would be appreciated.

Janella Clubine

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of a treasured mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Janella Bernice (nee Williams) Clubine, on July 26, 2013.

Janella is survived by her children William (Sandra), James (Valerie), Donald (Marlene), and David (Laurie); her sister Gwen; her grandchildren Scott (Meredith), Bradley (Stephanie), Jason (Karen), Jeremy (Jocelyn), Joshua, Daniel (Kaylee), Jeffrey (Fiona), Angela, and Aaron; step-grandchildren Marissa (Joseph Ponikowski), Shane Stapley, Hailey and Jesse Fralick, and 12 great-grandchildren.

While saddened at this loss, her family finds comfort that Janella’s faith in Christ is now sight.

Visitation will be held at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Ave., Markham, on Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 6-9 p.m. A funeral service commemorating Janella’s life will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8 at Springvale Baptist Church, 3885 Stouffville Road, Stouffville at 11 a.m.

Murray Musty

Mr. Murray Gordon Musty of Listowel passed away suddenly at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the age of 76.

Beloved husband of Barbara (Rock) Musty. Dear father of Tom Musty of London.

Brother of Joyce and Rev. Mark Davidson of RR 4 Flesherton. Son-in-law of Eva Rock of Mitchell and the late Oscar Rock. Brother-in-law of Arlene Sinnamon of Mitchell, Ken and Carol Rock Stratford, Donna and Ken Tuffnail of Stratford, Erma and Doug Thompson of Goderich, Brenda Rock and Chuck Rundall of Durham, Sandra Padbury of Chatham, and Brian and Donna Rock of Mitchell. Remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Bill and Edna (Vines) Musty, sons Dean and Shane Musty, and brothers-in-law Robert Sinnamon and Murray Rock.

Visitation was held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Tuesday, July 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Calvary United Church, Listowel on Wednesday, July 31 at 11 a.m. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.

Memorial donations to Calvary United Church, Listowel or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.

Jean Dunn

Mrs. Jean (Machan) Dunn of Listowel passed away at Caressant Care on Monday, July 29, 2013 at the age of 92.

Beloved wife of the late Earl Dunn. Dear mother of Al and Pat Dunn of West Montrose, Lynn Jacklin of Bayfield, and Jo-Anne Muchan of Port Franks.

Grandmother of Rick and Therese Dunn of Conestogo, Bonnie and Ben Kooh of Cambridge, Tracy Knischewsky of Woodstock, Dan Jacklin and Emily Zhong of Victoria, B.C., Liz Muchan of Komoka, Sam Muchan, and Liam Muchan, both of London. Great-grandmother of Shawn, Justine, Michael, Alex, Max, Mitchell, Riley, Matt and Naomi, Brian, Erin, Caitlyn, Cameron, Gavin, and Aidan.

Sister of Glenna Weber of Listowel.

Predeceased by her sister Lois O’Mara and her brothers Willis and Ralph Machan.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 31 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel where the funeral service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.

Betty Osborn

Elizabeth “Betty” Osborn, 83, of Mitchell passed away at Stratford General Hospital on Sunday, July 28, 2013.

Beloved wife of Ed Osborn. Dear mother of Jane McKenzie, Janet and husband Jim Bauer, and Joan and husband David Adams. Loving grandmother of Corrine and Matthew McKenzie, Jeff and Kelly Bauer, Jason and Heather Bauer, Emily and Pete deGroot and Brian Adams. Cherished great-grandmother of Austin and Brianne Bauer, Samuel and Ava deGroot.

Lovingly remembered by the Osborn family and her nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents John and Florence Allison, brothers Tom and Fred Allison, sister Grace Cummings and son-in-law Ian McKenzie (2009).

Friends were received on Tuesday, July 30 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell, where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 31 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert Adams officiating. Interment in Knox Presbyterian Cemetery.
