A new feature at this year’s Kinsmen Summerfest, taking place July 25-27 at Milt Dunnell Field in St. Marys, is a Smoked Pork Chop Barbecue on the evening of Friday, July 26, courtesy of the Perth County Pork Producers.
On the menu for the Barbecue, which runs from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Beer Gardens, will be smoked chops, salads, a dinner roll, juice and dessert. There’s also a kids’ menu featuring a bacon burger. Tickets are $15 for adults; $7.50 for kids.
Kin Summerfest returns this year with all the favourites from the past, including music in the beer gardens on Thursday night (classic and new rock band Howzat), Friday afternoon (the annual Country Music Jamboree), Friday night (local pub rock favourites The Right Arms), Saturday at 11 a.m. (St. Marys Youth Centre concert), and Saturday evening (Celtic rockers The Mudmen). There's also the ever-popular midway, with advance one-day passes currently available from a number of St. Marys businesses. And the Kinsmen beach dodgeball tournament takes place Saturday afternoon.
Kinsmen Club member Dave Proudlove says if you don’t have time to stay and eat on Friday, you’re welcome to bring your own take-out containers and take a smoked pork chop meal home with you. Local musician Sasha Boyd will be providing dinner-time entertainment.
Tickets for the Barbecue are available at McPhails Pet and Animal Needs, The Hitching Post, or by calling Proudlove at 519-284-8148. Or talk to any member of the Kinsmen Club.
