Habitat celebrates ReStore improvements

Stratford Gazette

The Habitat for Humanity Stratford-Perth ReStore held an open house on Saturday to showcase its newly renovated store, built largely through a $38,500 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).

Last October, the OTF approved Habitat’s request for funding to make necessary changes to the ReStore, including a safer entrance way, wheelchair accessible doors, accessible washrooms, a reconfigured front layout, and the relocation of the downtown offices to the ReStore  so that all Habitat staff could work under one roof.

In addition, a volunteer training space was created to support Habitat’s ongoing work building affordable housing for families.

The ReStore provides much of the revenue needed for the not-for-profit to operate through the sale of new and gently used home and building supplies that are donated by individuals and businesses.
