Cathy Martin

Cathy (McGugan) Martin went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Toronto General Hospital, after an incredibly courageous 22-year battle with cancer, at the age of 42.

Beloved wife of Michael Martin, loved daughter of Ann (and Wayne, 2010) McGugan, loving mother of Carsen McGugan, and grandmother to newly arrived Melody McGugan, all of St. Catharines.

Sister of Mark and Elizabeth McGugan of Australia and Jen and Shawn Paul of St. Catharines. Loved and loving daughter-in-law of Edith and Roy Martin of Gowanstown, sister-in-law of Barry and Shelley Martin of St. Catharines, Brian Martin, and Brad and Chandra Martin, all of Gowanstown. Fun-loving friend to all her nieces and nephews, all the extended families, and her many friends.

Cathy and Mike worked side by side as church planters in Eurasia and she leaves a host of friends there as well, to mourn their loss.

Cathy had a remarkable capacity to show love to everyone she met. She never let her painful bouts with cancer or resultant treatments and illnesses define who she was or slow her down any more than she could help. Her joy was contagious.

Her unwavering faith in God and her dependence on Him during the many dark and painful times will continue to be a challenge to those who helplessly watched her suffer. She was a great inspiration to everyone.

A celebration of Cathy’s life was held at Lakemount Worship Centre, Grimsby on March 30, with later committal in St. Catharines.

We love you Cathy, and we will miss you deeply until we meet again.
