The 2013 International Plowing Match (IPM) Committee announced last week that tickets for the 100th anniversary event on September 17- 21 are now available.
As the 100th anniversary of the first International Plowing Match and Rural Expo will be hosted by Perth County in 2013, West Perth Mayor Walter McKenzie, along with West Perth council and IPM committee members are ringing in the new year at a Mayors Levée on January 6 at the Mitchell and Area Community Centre.
The afternoon featuring a “Walk Through the Past 100 Years of the International Plowing Match” will be filled with displays, entertainment and refreshments. Ontario’s very own 2012-13 Queen of the Furrow, Sara Little, will be on hand to welcome attendees.
The International Plowing Match and Rural Expo, an event held each year at various locations across the province, is organized by the Ontario Plowmen's Association.
With an anticipated attendance of 20,000 visitors a day passing through its gates, the 2013 IPM will be a lively and fun filled family event that will be certain to boost the local economy in many areas.
Over 400 hectares of exhibits and activities, along with more than 500 exhibitors and vendors will be a part of a giant tented city. Education is an important component of each International Plowing Match depicting the area’s rural way of life. There will be antiques, displays and entertainment delighting all age groups.
The very latest technologies in farming, farm machinery and ways to enhance the environment will also be highlighted.
Perth County businesses will have an opportunity to showcase their innovations in broad-based technology, agriculture, alternate energy generation, manufacturing, and the service industry.
