A sweet treat for summer beats

Stratford Gazette

We may just be entering the throes of winter, but it's never too early to start thinking about those warm summer afternoons by the river listening to live music.

Once again this year, local pastry designer Shari Langis has created a one-of-a-kind gingerbread house to raffle off in support of Stratford Summer Music.

The all-edible creation, featuring miniature appliances, was unveiled Thursday evening at Turnbull & Stewart on Erie Street, where  tickets will be available for your chance to win the house up until Dec. 19. Tickets are $5 for one or $10 for three.

Langis says the house took about a week and a half to complete and consists of four double batches of gingerbread and three batches of icing – just the right amount to satisfy a family's sweet tooth this holiday season.
