Creating change

Stratford Gazette

A group of secondary school students from the Mitchell area are hoping to raise 5,000 pennies between now and Dec. 17 to assist those living in developing countries who don't have access to clean drinking water.

As part of their leadership class at Mitchell District High School, Jessica Sykes, Meagan Gloor, Heather McKone and Hailie Groot have joined Free the Children's We Create Change campaign, which aims to collect 250 million pennies – enough to provide fresh water for 100,000 people.

Collection jars have been set up in Stratford at Scotiabank on Wright Boulevard and at the Touchmark Shop, and in Mitchell at West Perth Public Library, Walthers IDA pharmacy, Dorothy's Café and MCR. The girls are also running a collection at their school.
