Off the Wall: Stratford Artists Alliance has received a $12,000 Ontario Arts Council grant assist in making theatrical production arts courses more accessible for both local and international arts students.
“We are grateful to the Ontario Arts Council for their generous support that will assist students otherwise unable to attend our ‘Setting the Scene’ course this summer,” said Michelle Boniface, Off the Wall chair. “With this grant Off the Wall continues to ensure the theatre community will have a talented pool of trained artisans of the future.”
Now in its seventh year, Off the Wall offers both summer and fall courses educating anyone interested in a future in theatre production arts. From theatre prop making, artistic welding, set design, mask making, stage upholstery, scenic painting and carpentry, experts in the field share their talent to ensure that students will have the initial tools they need to continue their education and to seek work in production arts at theatres across Canada.
Off the Wall will be holding its annual Summer Solstice evening at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 22 at Factory 163, with proceeds to assist in ensuring more students will have an opportunity to attend a summer theatre arts program. This year’s theme is “Woodstock” and features dancing to DJ Wigs, an exotic hooka lounge, an outstanding silent auction featuring pieces by instructors and local artists, and a prize for best costume.
