In our hearts and minds

Stratford Gazette

Optimism Place Women's Shelter and Support Services held a ceremony at Knox church Friday evening to remember the massacre at l'École Polytechnique in 1989.

Fifteen candles were lit at the beginning of the vigil by attendees – 14 for the women killed in Montreal and one in honour of Nicole Wagler, the 17-year-old Stratford high school student and Milverton resident who was killed by a gunshot last December.

Afterwards, participants joined in an open discussion about violence against women and girls.
