New owner for old business

Stratford Gazette

An official grand opening ceremony was held Sunday afternoon to launch the James A. Rutherford Funeral Home, formerly Heinbuck Funeral Home.

The event included a performance by members of Stratford Police Pipes and Drums and a blessing by Rev. Fr. Dick Bester. Several elected officials were on hand to offer greetings.

Rutherford purchased the funeral home – which was established in 1923 – from John and Nora Kechnie and Gerald Cook earlier this year.

North Easthope native said he is pleased to be able to continue the Heinbuck tradition in the community.
