Please don't push snow back into roadways

St. Marys Journal Argus

The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is asking the public to not shovel, or plow snow from driveways and sidewalks back onto the roadway.

"County crews are busy with snow removal with the recent snow fall and drifting snow in our area," explained a news release from the OPP on Friday afternoon. "If the snow is pushed onto the roadway then it becomes a hazard for drivers."

In the news release, the force reminded the public that it is an offence to deposit snow or ice on a roadway. It's contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and carries a $105 fine.

The news release also encourages members of the public to contact the OPP if they have any concerns or issues regarding these types of hazards occurring in the Oxford County.

"Please be considerate of friends and neighbours that are using our area roadways for travel."
